Ni hao!
This will be short, as I've been having a tough time getting photos to upload, and it is already 12:30 a.m. here.
The pictures will do most of the talking.
Enjoy!
Last night, Daddy gave Ahna her first bottle. We had thought it best for only one of us to do so for at least several days, but since she had a rough day and refused a bottle from Mommy......
Today, she awoke in a really sweet mood, so after her morning bottle, I dressed her and we had a little photo shoot. She loves the pretty shirt Aunt Becki gave her.
She invited Eli in for the shoot......
Then spent lots of time playing with he and Seth on the bed, since Daddy and Jacob were away, visiting the orphanage. (be sure to see that post, below.)
She LOVES this towel, and has chosen it over all the pretty blankets I brought for her to "attach" to. :-) She has slept with a little towel in the orphanage......
"Did you say something to me? I'm busy scratching the fabric on this chair...."
At some point in the morning, our laundry was delivered. We should probably bring a few more clothes next time we come to China. We heard it was inexpensive to get laundry done, but when there are 5 of you..... the yuan do add up. (yes, I know there are 6 of us - but I don't send Ahna's laundry out. :-)
Eli brushed up on some more card-trick skills.
Then Bill and Jacob were back, and we spent lots of time talking about their trip and looking at pictures and video.
At 5:00 p.m. we met our wonderful travel friends and guides, loaded up on the bus, and went to a few porcelain shops. This province is quite famous for its porcelain, and we saw some beautiful items. The store clerks followed close behind, holding the pieces up to the light and chattering about I'm not sure what.
Then, off we went for dinner at a Chinese restaurant, which included entertainment. Lots of music and dancing as part of their show - when we filed out after our meal, there was a Michael Jackson sort of singer performing. Interesting.
After dinner, we loaded back up on the bus and drove about 15 minutes to a place on the famous Gan River, where we watched a lovely light show set to music. It was hot and humid and there was not a breeze anywhere. Even my shirt was soaked when we left. Did I mention that it is hot here, in southern China?
My camera doesn't show the pretty lights above the water, but our girl was completely mesmerized.
Then, it was back to the bus to head back to the hotel.
This is what she does EVERY time we get on the bus. She hates the bus. She has gotten quite a reputation for being the "cryer" of the bunch. :-) That is SO OK with us...... we know she is just learning how to deal with this new life of hers. She doesn't yet know how amazing it will be.
Once back at the hotel, she was a happy camper immediately.... you can't see her grinning, but she was.
They're all sleeping soundly now, so I must get some rest, as well. Tomorrow afternoon we leave for Guangzhou, where we will be for the remainder of our time in China. I feel an attachment to this province where our daughter was born, and hope to come back some day to explore it more.
Until next time, zai jien!
Oh, and one last thing: we read your comments and emails daily, and SO SO SO appreciate every one. Thank you. It is so good to hear from friends and family while we're here.

Hello! I went to Li Ming's blog as was blessed again by the Lord's goodness!
May I say though that I have prayed that you will not give the father-of-lies a centimeter of your hearts? I see Ming laugh and smile and seem to so easily adjust and I pray for you that you will not have a moment of envy or discouragement. The' "Whys," that so easily distract from what is true, lovely and praiseworthy are not worth a moment-even though your exhausted bodies may think so now and then.
The Lord had given you all SO MUCH for which to rejoice. Think on those things and never wonder why YOUR daughter is struggling so and if YOU could do something different and better to make it all just right. Right now. God gave Ahna to the PERFECT parents for Ahna. :0) Praise the Lord and rejoice in what is to come for her life and yours.
I have not seen a shred of evidence of this in your hearts, but it may be that the father-of-lies/the accuser may try to encourage this in your tired state. The flesh loves to compare. So I thought I would say something. If I thought of it, you know the accuser has.
Remember what is true and lovely and praiseworthy. Be strong and trust in the Lord, the Author of each of your lives and stories and this journey with dear Ahna.
with my love and prayers...
The picture of Ahna sucking her thumb with her towel lovie is just the cutest! I have two thumb suckers too!
Enjoy your time in China!
She is adorable, she even wore the bow in her hair. I'm glad she's adjusting so well. Great pics !!! I check every few minutes to see what happens next with her. She will soon know how it feels to be loved!!

What more to say.............Daddy's little girl.

She is totally working the bow, pink no less! I'll say it yet again: what a CUTIE!
Bill and Cindi,
I am sitting here with tears in my eyes after looking at little Ahna's bed in the orphanage. Ahna's journey to your family is such a perfect picture of our adoption by our heavenly Father. We can come reluctantly to our inheritance and the wonderful life He has prepared for us, just like Ahna is doing right now. But soon she will come to realize, as He wants us all to do, how wonderful it is to leave behind what used to comfort us before. Ahna is in for a wonderful life. May the Lord bless you all in these last days in China. You have an amazing story to tell a little, wide-eyed girl one day about a crib on the other side of the world that she left in exchange for her life as your daughter. She will begin to understand how blessed she is on that day to be called yours.
You have certainly seen China in many ways that we did not. I think each family takes away their own piece of the journey. I'm glad Bill and Jacob had the chance to visit the SWI and see how Ahna lived her first year. That will help with knowing how to get through some of the harder times. We did not have that opportunity.
Glad to see that she is getting along with her brothers. Cindi, don't be discouraged when she turns from you, she is missing her China family and that is the only way she can express it. There are ways to get her to take a bottle from you and look right at you. It's not easy in the beginning! Larry could not even touch Emma for weeks!! You and Bill will do great and she will adjust to all the changes. Just keep her looking at her mom and dad, not away even if she wants to look away. :) It's hard. :) You will be amazed at the changes in her during the coming days. She is a deserving child and you are such deserving parents. God would never have given you this desire if it were not so.
Oh, how are the beds? LOL!!
Love to all
Hey Friends! Okay, so we heard Ahna laughing and were totally having visions of her and Grace playing with one another and cracking up! Ahna will be a special friend for sure. It's amazing to see how she already has that special Simmons' sparkle in her eye. Put there by God we are sure. Ya'll stay prayed up, rested, and encouraged. We are anxious for you to return but even more anxious for you to soak up every moment of this.
The Isaacs are still following along!! Praying and hoping to learn some things from you guys before they stick us on a plane and hand us a crying baby!! We can't wait!! Crying and all!
Ahna is beautiful! I love watching your little guy with her. He seems like he is just precious. Can you save him? He will have 3 girls to choose from in our family!

I too went to Macy's blog "from dating to diapers" and enjoyed all the photo's of their parallel journey. It was so interesting to see the different personalities in these little angels who have had similar upbringings. It reminds me how uniquely God makes each personality. I see so much of Bill in Ahna's seriousness. She is definetly in the right family.(-: You all are doing all the right things and God will bring an even stronger bond in HIS timing. Stay encouraged! You all are LOVED and prayed for every day! B,E,L
